Canon iPF8100
AN EXTRAORDINARY SPECTRUM OF COLOR
Equipped with a pallet of 12 colors that includes Cyan, Photo Cyan, Magenta, Photo Magenta, Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue, plus four monochromatic shades–Black, Matte Black, Gray, and Photo Gray–these printers deliver a broader gamut for greater tonal range and more precise reproduction of color.
• Red, Green, and Blue: These colors expand the color space while significantly improving saturation level for the additive primary colors.
• Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta, Gray, and Photo Gray: These colors help smooth color transitions, reduce graininess, and maintain a neutral gray balance for better overall image quality.
• Four Monochromic Shades: A greater black-to-white tonal range is enabled for more dramatic light-to-dark contrast and better mid-tone clarity. Black density on coated and uncoated media is optimized because the printer will automatically select the appropriate Black ink based on the type of media being used.
ARCHIVAL LUCIA INKS
Canon’s advanced ink technologies give LUCIA pigment inks outstanding archival characteristics. Each pigment particle is protected by a special polymer compound coating. This coating increases the ink’s resistance to fading to extend the longevity of a printed image. The polymer also helps the ink to adhere more evenly and securely across the surface of the media to reduce graininess, resist scratching, and minimize bronzing–so prints look great from every angle.
SYSTEM CALIBRATION–SIMPLIFIED Unlike the complex and time-consuming calibration normally required in professional settings, Canon offers a simplified process that enables easy recalibration back to the original, optimal factory settings across all the printer’s media types–in just minutes.
KYUANOS: CANON’S NEXT-GENERATION COLOR-MATCHING PLATFORM
Kyuanos is a new high-precision colormatching engine developed by Canon. This underlying technology enables advanced color management functions, such as Ambient Light Adjustment,* and supports richer color expression across a wider spectrum of input and output formats.

L-COA COntroller - New Print Controller
Like other powerful Canon systems, the IPF8100 is built around the innovative L-COA (Large Format printer Common Architecture) processor. When it comes to speed and accuracy, the L-COA processor is in a league of its own. By intelligently processing print data and directing the high precision, high-density print heads to deposit ink, the system ensures image clarity and color accuracy, even for complex graphics and color-rich photographic images. Combined with Canon's dual print head design and the most ink nozzles per color in the industry, the L-COA controller helps achieve phenomenal print speeds.
Print Head - PF 03 - Dual print head system
Engineered for speed and advanced image production, the iPF8100 boasts Canon's dual print head system to lay down ink with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Unlike conventional printers with a single print head, the iPF8100 uses two high-precision, high density print heads with a total of 30,720 nozzles. It lays down precise 4 picoliter-size ink droplets to produce sharp detail and excellent image quality. The superfine 4 picoliter-size droplets produce delicate color gradations and high-definition. The twin lines of nozzles on the new print heads enable the iPF8100 to minimize the number of printing passes and still maintain print quality. The two 1-inch iPF series print heads, each with 6 colors with 2,560 nozzles per color. That's a total of 30,720 nozzles. More nozzles mean more ink is ejected with every pass of the print head, no matter what print mode or media. It gives new meaning to "high-speed output".Print Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop
This export module allows 16-bit image processing, preserving the expanded color spectrum and high gradation of the original file. The Print Plug-in reduces the possibility of incorrect settings, by providing an integrated interface for print settings in Photoshop and the printer driver, enabling efficient production. In addition, the plug-in supports an Adobe Color Conversion Module (CMM) and proof printing is now possible by simulating the colors produced by printing presses. The following enhanced features are provided in the Print Plug-In for Photoshop:
- Adobe CMM support
- Proof printing support
- High-Precision Text/Line mode support
- High-Precision Photo mode support
- New image processing technology
- Support for commercial profile creation tools
Media Configuration Tool
Recognizing the expanding array of media options for large format printers and to further improve the versatility of these new imagePROGRAF models, Canon has developed a new Media Configuration Tool, which not only allows customers to utilize Canon-branded media, but provides the ability to make adjustments to printer settings to enhance the precision and quality of output achieved with third party media.Settings that can be configured using media parameter adjustment features include:
- Media weight and thickness
- Ink drying time for rolls
- Automatic cutting settings for rolls
- Borderless printing for rolls
- Paper feed amount
- Print-head height
- Vacuum strength
- Maximum ink usage
